After several weeks of singing "Rum-tum-tum baby come" and Ali kissing, pushing and pounding on you (and me), the day arrived. Papa and Granny came over at 6:00am and daddy and I were off to Beth Israel for a 7:00am induction. I cried the whole way to the hospital. Tears of joy, fear, and overwhelment!
After a quick check in and cervadil application, we were sent off for a 4 hour lunch. It was the most delicious lunch ever. Daddy and I walked into Kenmore Square to the Commonwealth Hotel and ate at Eastern Standard. We talked about names and about how our little girl would soon feel so big. We ate, talked, sat, stared, thought, contemplated, cried, and ate some more! Then we walked back in the drizzling rain and the WAITING began.
6:00pm rolled around, 7:45, 10:00. Contractions were strong and steady. We had our names picked, cameras ready.....Around 11:30, I told Caroline, our nurse you were coming. I just knew it...I felt it. And sure enough, with a quick check, you were there. Dr. Goldberg was called, I was told to "hold it". I "held-it" for what seemed like 15 minutes, although it was really only 60 seconds. And then, one push, 2 pushes and out you came- you entered the world quietly, and after a quick rub down to get those lungs going, you were put into my outstretched arms. A boy...not sure if daddy, or the nurse or doctor said it. A boy. Joshua Henry. A boy. You looked around, blue eyes gleaming, and then nestled in for your first suck! 11:43.......you entered the world and it has never been the same. You were, and are PERFECT in every way.
I loved how peaceful you were in this photograph
Calling Papa and Granny to tell them Ali is a big sister
Getting to know your daddy
Love the photo and story. I started writing Colin's dramatic birth story on Tom's computer ages ago. I should dig it up...
